Is The Stinky Pete Shower Tent Right For You?
What’s a Stinky Pete?
I looked up the name Stinky Pete on the Internet in order to inject some educational background information and also just for the sake of having a halfway decent blog post this time. As it turns out, one of the search results reveals that it’s the name of some kind of hillbilly Toy Story 2 character voiced by Kelsey Grammer. The other search result revealed a definition that I won’t talk about in this post because I simply can’t ;) Check it out on the urban dictionary web site and you’ll see what I mean.
In any case, I’m here to provide an overview of the Stinky Pete tent in picture and in writing so that anybody that’s heard of or seen this product online can find out if it can do what it is that you need it to do for your specific camping trip or outdoor event. There aren’t a whole lot of explanations and even less pictures on the Internet that can really provide you with a clear answer on "is this product right for you or not?" for the kind of outdoor activity you're involved with.
Assembling the tent
The tent comes in a heavy duty duffle style carry bag that measures 30” x 6” x 6” and weighs 10 pounds. We know already that it’s too heavy to bring on a hiking trip. These shower tents are designed for remaining at a campsite and then to be used when coming back from hiking at the end of the day.
It took me about 30 minutes to assemble the whole thing but that’s because I’m naturally slow.(I was always the last one to finish my exercises at school) All kidding aside, I got stuck on step #5 while following the assembly instructions that specifies to insert poles in the hubs that look like elbows. I found this step a bit confusing at first but maybe it's just me. Once I figured out how it works the rest of the setup was a breeze. Really, it’s just like setting up a standard tent so I won’t bore you with every single detail of assembly. After putting it together once I say it should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to assemble again.

After setting up the Stinky Pete tent I noticed a few important key points that stand out and that are worth mentioning:
1- There is a hook at the top of the tent from which you can hang a camping shower bag of 2.5 gallons. As you can see from the pictures I hung a shower bag full of water and the tent did not collapse. This is important because not all shower tents can withstand the weight of a solar shower bag.
